Dec12015

Hello December!

So we have come to the last page of Claras Calender of 2015 today: And we have already had the first snow of this season on November 22. Only a couple of centimeters and most of it melted on the ground straightaway. But as you might imagine, the girls were very excited on that Sunday… Read More

A Suitcase full of Art

This weekend my art buddy Doris Reske and me packed a lot of our smaller work and some paintings into a suitcase and put up at a stand at a local arts & crafts fair called Koffermarket here in Oldenburg. It was Doris idea to give it a try, besides doing our classical exhibitions and… Read More

Hello October!

I am a bit late to the October party, I just realized yesterday. So here is Clara’s calendar page: And it fits so perfectly, being right in the middle of the mushroom season and with the mushroom pattern I created recently. We have had a beautiful autumn so far, with lots of bright sunshine (but… Read More

Hello September!

I must admit, I was quite resistant to turn Clara’s calendar yesterday morning, as it meant the official ending of my favourite season of the year. And summer gave us a nearly tropical day and evening on August 31 as a farewell gift, so waking up to rain and dropped temperatures on September 1 felt… Read More

Co-Lab V

Doris and me painted again last weekend – and this time we went from big size canvases to small cardboard pieces.  And I felt like bringing my gelliplate into the game. So we spent a couple of lovely Sunday hours monoprinting while it was raining outside, once in a while one of my daughters joined… Read More

Pattern 28/52

This week’s pattern comes as a cooling summer breeze to you. The process behind my “Blue Wisteria” was fun and experimental. I went back to my plant printing of summer 2012 (blogged about here). The wisteria leaves came from my mother-in-law’s patio (and the pillows still sit around in my bedroom). For the new pattern… Read More

Hello July!

Today I turned Clara’s calendar and her favourite monthly page of them all is now hanging in our living room. And her calendar is so right! Summer has arrived with its full glorious force this week, with the temperatures rising to new heights daily. Carolina asks for ice cream on a daily basis too –… Read More

Candy and Helga

Last year around this time I sewed myself a pair of pants. I had so much fabric left over, that I could cut it out to sew a tunic like this one, this time with short puffy sleeves and a size tighter. And since then, the cut-outs have been lying around. The months passed and… Read More

Pattern 21/52

This week on a rainy May afternoon I was knitting away on my leftover blanket (a project that’s been already going on years!), when I realized how much I liked the random colour combination of green, purple and light pink. And the colours reminded me of something I have seen recently, what was it? Then… Read More

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‚Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Would you have guessed that I painted these flowers digitally, solely on the iPad? While most digital artists prefer Procreate, I love Adobe Fresco for its unpredictable watercolour brushes which bring much of the beauty and magic of real watercolours 🎨💫

For those of you who are interested in trying digital watercolour painting on the iPad I have a whole beginner class on @skillshare on this topic where we will paint crocuses in the snow, a little harbinger of spring. You can find the link to the class in my bio linktree ⬆️ It also gives you a month on Skillshare for free, with access to all my classes and thousands more.
