Pink Moment of the Week

Wow, two art shows within one week! My solo exhibition at Corpus Oldenburg opened this week (blogged here). And then the city of Rostock (where I grew up) hosts its annual amateur art exhibition Rostock kreativ – with a new record of 713 artists participating. The last time my mother visited us, she grabbed one… Read More

Pattern 10/52

Another week, another pattern, another contest. This is my submission for the Spoonflower contest “Spoons”: For this pattern I learned a couple of new things. First of all I made the pattern in Photoshop (I usually use Illustrator). The spoons are simple line drawings of spoons that I scanned in and then applied some golden… Read More

Sport and Art

My solo exhibition at the Body- and Health center Corpus in Oldenburg opened this week. What about stepping on a scale and look at some art? Work out, sweat and be motivated by my colourful paintings. The exhibition is open to the public during the working hours of the sports center until June. PS: A… Read More

Hello March!

It is the first of March today and as I am writing this the sun is coming out after a morning of rain. I am not quite sure what this chicken wants to tell me for the month of March to come, and Clara couldn’t tell me either (Easter is only next month). What I… Read More

Green

I used to knit a lot. I even used to have a knitting blog. I started this dress 3,5 years ago when I was pregnant with my second daughter Carolina (blogged here). Then I stopped knitting this dress. Because of the belly. Then because of breastfeeding. And then painting came my way again. 3,5 years… Read More

Magic Mountain Village

The February assigment of Lilla Roger’s MATS Bootcamp was quite a creative and emotional rollercoaster ride for me. The “mini” for the warm-up week was to look at vintage scenic plates, be inspired and draw your own scenes. I discovered, that I especially liked the Japanese plates with landscape scenes. And I must admit, that… Read More

Pattern 8/52

This week’s pattern I designed for a Spoonflower design challenge called “coral, mint, black and white”. And these are exactly the colours you are supposed to work with, and only these colours. Not the usual palette I am drawn to, but a very refreshing inspiration, I found. For my pattern I used one basic hand-drawn… Read More

Winter or Spring?

February is such a hybrid of a month. There are still those winter days, when my feelings and paintings look like this: And then, there might be a day, like Friday last week, that feels like the first day of spring, with sunshine and blue skies all day long, a certain sweet and fresh smell… Read More

Pattern 7/52

For this week’s pattern I just couldn’t help it – it is Valentine’s Day tomorrow. Hearts, hearts, hearts, on a postcard in a half drop pattern repeat. The hearts are simple doodles, one is based on this thing I found in our living room. Have a beautiful and lovely day!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‚Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Would you have guessed that I painted these flowers digitally, solely on the iPad? While most digital artists prefer Procreate, I love Adobe Fresco for its unpredictable watercolour brushes which bring much of the beauty and magic of real watercolours 🎨💫

For those of you who are interested in trying digital watercolour painting on the iPad I have a whole beginner class on @skillshare on this topic where we will paint crocuses in the snow, a little harbinger of spring. You can find the link to the class in my bio linktree ⬆️ It also gives you a month on Skillshare for free, with access to all my classes and thousands more.
