A Photo Challenge

Another week, another challenge ;-). Because one challenge (this here) is just not enough, I also joined the #gatheringevidence Instagram photo challenge by American photographer Catherine Just, whose soulful photography I discovered recently. For 30 days she gives photo prompts, that keep you thinking, feeling, observing and taking photos with your iPhone – I joined… Read More

Hello October!

I am a bit late to the October party, I just realized yesterday. So here is Clara’s calendar page: And it fits so perfectly, being right in the middle of the mushroom season and with the mushroom pattern I created recently. We have had a beautiful autumn so far, with lots of bright sunshine (but… Read More

Pattern 36/52

My first pattern after the holidays is still very holiday-inspired. With a colour palette from this room in our bungalow on Koh Samet. With some of these greens and pinks I created a pattern for the latest stoff’n design contest themed “arrows”. A funny thing I learned about arrow patterns: even when all the arrows… Read More

My Thailand Sketchbook

I brought my sketchbook home brimming with sketches and the feeling of fun I had while drawing them. Nearly all of its hundred pages filled up with memories and the big and little things I saw and put to paper on our Thailand trip. Things, that a camera can’t capture this way. Mostly little things,… Read More

A Taste of Thailand

I am slowly settling in back home. And as I usually feel instantly at home in the tropics, coming back to my actual home (which I Iove!) often feels like a reverse culture (and climate) shock. Putting together this collage brought back some the energy of our three weeks in Thailand. in random order: our… Read More

What I brought home from Thailand

Fabric from Little India in Bangkok, a sketchbook full of drawings, a coloring book from the airport, Chinese brushes from Chinatown in Bangkok, Micron pens bought in Chiang Mai, a dress from Pattaya, a stylus pen, a pouch and mini lotus buds from the world’s biggest weekend market. Plus a tan, wonderful travel stories, hubby… Read More

Co-Lab V

Doris and me painted again last weekend – and this time we went from big size canvases to small cardboard pieces.  And I felt like bringing my gelliplate into the game. So we spent a couple of lovely Sunday hours monoprinting while it was raining outside, once in a while one of my daughters joined… Read More

Hello July!

Today I turned Clara’s calendar and her favourite monthly page of them all is now hanging in our living room. And her calendar is so right! Summer has arrived with its full glorious force this week, with the temperatures rising to new heights daily. Carolina asks for ice cream on a daily basis too –… Read More

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‚Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Marianne Williamson

Would you have guessed that I painted these flowers digitally, solely on the iPad? While most digital artists prefer Procreate, I love Adobe Fresco for its unpredictable watercolour brushes which bring much of the beauty and magic of real watercolours 🎨💫

For those of you who are interested in trying digital watercolour painting on the iPad I have a whole beginner class on @skillshare on this topic where we will paint crocuses in the snow, a little harbinger of spring. You can find the link to the class in my bio linktree ⬆️ It also gives you a month on Skillshare for free, with access to all my classes and thousands more.
