Pink Moments of the Month

I am recently taking a wonderful course with the amazing painter Alena Hennessy and photographer Susan Tuttle called Radiant HeART . I am a big fan of both and already took their Co-Lab painting & iPhoneography course last year (without having an iPhone, but working in Photoshop instead). Having updated my devices recently, I am… Read More

Pattern 19/52

I am a bit behind with my pattern challenge these days. For the last two weeks most of my creative energy went into relaunching my website and painting some big paintings for my upcoming show. Also Module 3 of the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design is very business-based with loads of information about… Read More

Pattern 17/52

This week’s pattern was created to a brief in week 2 of the ABSPD course Module 3 (The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design). The assignment was to design a tea towel using traditional media and only black, white and two other colours of choice. I really wanted to recycle the textures I made… Read More

As you might have noticed by now, I am quite addicted to online art courses. Addicted is probably not the right word – e-courses are just such a gift of modern technology. You can learn from top artists and teachers, be part of a supportive worldwide online community and have some schedule and assignments to… Read More

Cosmic Telephone & Fingernails

I have already painted on a round canvas board this year and now I grabbed an oval one. the finished painting is called: “cosmic telephone: call me” The painting is influenced by a lesson in Alena Hennessy’s A Year of Painting 2, encouraging the use of black & white for classy elegance – but… Read More

Pattern 15/52

This week’s pattern is again a by-product of the Make Art that Sells course Part B, its 5th and final week was dedicated to Party Paper – paper plates, napkins, paper cups, wrapping paper etc. Our inspiration – the mini – was Bavarian and Ukrainian folk art. Ok, I am half-German (but not Bavarian) and… Read More

Pattern 14/52

The pattern of the week is the result of the work I did in Week 3 of the MATS B course. The market was scrapbooking – something that took me a while to grasp. There is no such market in Germany (yet), but we were provided with lots of information and visuals in the class… Read More

Yes, spring is here! At last! Sunshine, birds and flowers! And you know what the assignment for the first week of MATS B was – to design a winter holiday card … featuring toy trains … That’s business, I guess, you never know what you are assigned to do and then you start working to… Read More

Hello March!

It is the first of March today and as I am writing this the sun is coming out after a morning of rain. I am not quite sure what this chicken wants to tell me for the month of March to come, and Clara couldn’t tell me either (Easter is only next month). What I… Read More

Magic Mountain Village

The February assigment of Lilla Roger’s MATS Bootcamp was quite a creative and emotional rollercoaster ride for me. The “mini” for the warm-up week was to look at vintage scenic plates, be inspired and draw your own scenes. I discovered, that I especially liked the Japanese plates with landscape scenes. And I must admit, that… Read More

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‚Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Marianne Williamson

Would you have guessed that I painted these flowers digitally, solely on the iPad? While most digital artists prefer Procreate, I love Adobe Fresco for its unpredictable watercolour brushes which bring much of the beauty and magic of real watercolours 🎨💫

For those of you who are interested in trying digital watercolour painting on the iPad I have a whole beginner class on @skillshare on this topic where we will paint crocuses in the snow, a little harbinger of spring. You can find the link to the class in my bio linktree ⬆️ It also gives you a month on Skillshare for free, with access to all my classes and thousands more.
