Lanzarote Moods

It was wonderful. Spending two weeks around Christmas and New Year on the Canary island of Lanzarote, enjoying mild spring-like temperatures, sunshine and a volcanic landscapes like out-of-this-world. We visited caves, little idyllic towns and villages, a cacti garden and beaches. I relished all the views and the beautiful flora. And I painted my Travel… Read More

Mallorca Moods

My travel moods are back! Our family spent the last two weeks on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca and that was just the energy lift my body, mind and Daily Moods needed. As you might have read previously on my blog, my Daily Moods started as a 100-day-project in April and have since then evolved… Read More

My Moods Movie

Last Sunday was the last day of my summer vacation and totally incidentally also the last day of my 100-day-project. Some say it takes 21 days to form a new habit, others say 28 or 66 days. So 100 days are plenty! I started on April 27 2016 and painted my 100 days all through… Read More

DELIGHTS

Last night our biggest (up-to-now) art show opened in Delmenhorst, Germany. Doris Reske and me show 65 pieces of art on the tree floors of the Lichthof-Gallery which is part of the former Nordwolle fabric area. Large acrylic paintings (quite a few of them collaborations), mixed-media collages by me and iPhoneography prints by Doris show… Read More

Daily Moods – Halftime

This morning I painted my 50th morning mood of my 100-day-project. So I thought it was time for a little update since I started the project a good 1,5 months ago. I am still doing them. Every single morning. Never missed once (ok, I missed one weekend when I forgot to take my art supplies… Read More

The Teal Series – a painting commission

In October I was contacted by a former yoga student of mine whom I had met again at an arts & crafts fair last year. She asked me if I could create a little painting series for a friend’s birthday. We had a look through my portfolio to find a theme and creative direction for… Read More

100 Days of Daily Moods

About three weeks ago a lot of posts started showing up in my Instagram feed with people announcing their coming #the100dayproject, starting the next day on April 19. I had heard about the project before, thinking you can start doing it anytime (which you can do, of course!), but this time it was announced by… Read More

Downtown – a new exhibition

This week my favourite art-partner-in-crime Doris Reske and me opened a new art show. It is called “Downtown” and that is also the exact whereabouts of the exhibition, right in the city centre of Oldenburg, in what I think, is the most beautiful café of the city Kaffee & Kleid. Its German name means “coffee… Read More

A Year of Co-Labs

On International Women’s Day (unintentionally) last year Doris Reske and started our first Co-Lab experiment and this weekend we painted together for the 12th time. Over the course of the year we have painted in her studio (a lot!), in the sunshine in my garden, together with little painters and just by ourselves. We had… Read More

In the Studio – New Paintings

As much as I like working on my computer designing patterns, I very much need the actual process of real painting in real life. Real paint on my real hands and brushes, all the exploration and surprises and all the “mistakes” that can’t be fixed with a go-back keyboard command. Painting always touches me on… Read More

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‚Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Marianne Williamson

Would you have guessed that I painted these flowers digitally, solely on the iPad? While most digital artists prefer Procreate, I love Adobe Fresco for its unpredictable watercolour brushes which bring much of the beauty and magic of real watercolours 🎨💫

For those of you who are interested in trying digital watercolour painting on the iPad I have a whole beginner class on @skillshare on this topic where we will paint crocuses in the snow, a little harbinger of spring. You can find the link to the class in my bio linktree ⬆️ It also gives you a month on Skillshare for free, with access to all my classes and thousands more.
