Month: March 2015

Mar262015May 9 2015

Pattern 13/52

Stoff’n is a German company similar to Spoonflower – I did my first printed pattern design with them and was really happy with the quality. They are not as big as Spoonflower, but they also do pattern contests, on a monthly basis. “Faith” is the theme of the current contest and it took me some… Read More

Pattern 12/52

My pattern of the week comes from week 2 of the Make Art that Sells course, where Baby Apparel was the featured market. The warm-up drawing exercise was “seahorses”. I must say, I have always loved seahorses since I was little. Did you know that seahorses are the only known species in the world where… Read More

Pink Moment of the Week

My yoga students continue to surprise and amaze me. Not only through their practice. Especially in my prenatal and mama- and baby yoga classes, where I see my students grow and change during quite a wonderful and intense time, I sometimes get lovely cards and presents. Like this week: A sewing book for yoga clothes… Read More

Pattern 11/52

Yes, spring is here! At last! Sunshine, birds and flowers! And you know what the assignment for the first week of MATS B was – to design a winter holiday card … featuring toy trains … That’s business, I guess, you never know what you are assigned to do and then you start working to… Read More

Messages to My Self

Two little collages came together yesterday. I haven’t done collage in a while (even though my collages got very positive feedback at my recent exhibitions). Feeling low energy and vulnerable at the moment, I thought playing a bit with paper couldn’t hurt. I took two painted backgrounds and started tearing paper and arranging it randomly.… Read More

Paint Together

We do yoga together, we have an exhibition together, so why not paint together, we thought, Doris Reske and me. And that’s what we did this weekend – our first collaborative painting session, in Doris’ beautiful new studio, drinking Tulsi tea and with strange music on. We made up the rules up as we went… Read More

Pink Moment of the Week

Wow, two art shows within one week! My solo exhibition at Corpus Oldenburg opened this week (blogged here). And then the city of Rostock (where I grew up) hosts its annual amateur art exhibition Rostock kreativ – with a new record of 713 artists participating. The last time my mother visited us, she grabbed one… Read More

Pattern 10/52

Another week, another pattern, another contest. This is my submission for the Spoonflower contest “Spoons”: For this pattern I learned a couple of new things. First of all I made the pattern in Photoshop (I usually use Illustrator). The spoons are simple line drawings of spoons that I scanned in and then applied some golden… Read More

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‚Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Marianne Williamson

Would you have guessed that I painted these flowers digitally, solely on the iPad? While most digital artists prefer Procreate, I love Adobe Fresco for its unpredictable watercolour brushes which bring much of the beauty and magic of real watercolours 🎨💫

For those of you who are interested in trying digital watercolour painting on the iPad I have a whole beginner class on @skillshare on this topic where we will paint crocuses in the snow, a little harbinger of spring. You can find the link to the class in my bio linktree ⬆️ It also gives you a month on Skillshare for free, with access to all my classes and thousands more.
