Licensed Designs for Plum Practicewear

I am very happy to show you three designs of mine that became products by American gymnastics activewear brand Plum Practicewear in 2018. ‘Icebreaker’ became part of their winter collection, ‘Waikiki’ was in their summer Coastal Craze collection and ‘Jubilee’ turned out to be a tropical bestseller from their Back to School collection.

Print Collaboration with Happycloth

Happycloth is a recently launched Greek company producing top-quality handmade silk scarves. I coudn’t be more proud when I found out that they chose 12 designs out of 45,000 textile patterns, and two of them were mine, ‘Leopink’ and ‘Ditsy’. What makes them furthermore special is that the company decided to sell each scarf with… Read More

New Licensed Designs for FLEO

I am excited that two fresh activewear designs of mine were licenced and released on FLEO shorts in June and July. That makes four this year and I think there is even more to come. I like how diverse my designs are, they started out as textures painted with watercolour, photographs or even doodling on… Read More

Licensed Activewear Designs for FLEO

As some of you might know, besides being a textile designer I am also a yoga teacher. When I first heard the word ‘Athleisure’ at a WGSN trend seminar I was about to jump up and shout “That’s me!”. I wear leggings and some kind of dress/tunic all day long as I transition between yoga… Read More

The November Collection

My November Collection begins where my October Collection ended – at the ‘Botanicactus Garden’ in Mallorca. And it is another collection designed to a Patternmash live brief, called Defence Mechanism. The special thing about this brief was, that it was a weekend brief in contrast to the usual month-long-projects. When I got the brief for… Read More

The May Collection

That’s what surface pattern design is often like – Christmas cards in June and bikini patterns ins December.… Read More

The April Collection

April showers bring May flowers … watercolour patterns! For this year’s monthly collection challenge (self-imposed) I like working to the briefs of the Textile Design Lab. In April their brief focused on so-called “Capricious Classics” like stripes, dots, plaids, florals and paisleys and a combination of them. I wanted to get away from the computer… Read More

Hi creative people, I have a brandnew 90-min class Hi creative people, I have a brandnew 90-min class with @etchr_studio coming up this Friday at 10am EDT - ‘Nostalgic Little Portraits in Multi-Media’ 🎨

Making art is more than just techniques. Art is about capturing moments and connecting emotionally with your subject. If this resonates with you, then please join me when I show you in this interactive class:

• The easiest (and quickest) way to create portraits
• Combining coloured pencils, markers, crayons, watercolour and acrylics
• How to identify facial proportions
• Adding expression to your portraits through simple marks
• How to consider negative space in your composition
• Picking simple but effective colour palettes

Materials needed:
• Watercolour and/or acrylic
, coloured pencils, crayons, black marker
• Brush and water
• Postcard-sized paper (5-6 pieces)

The class will be streamed live & free on Etchr’s YouTube channel this Friday and anybody can join. You can find the link right on top in my bio linktree. After that it will not be visible on YouTube anymore, but you can purchase the class recording for only $7. A 7-day-subscription-free-trial of Etchr Studio is also available (hundreds of classes!).

If you have missed my 30-min free introductory demo to little portraits, this stays on YouTube and you can also find it in my bio linktree if you would like to warm up for class on Friday. See you 👋

This week I had the big honour to do a dance & art This week I had the big honour to do a dance & art project at a school in Oldenburg, where I live in Germany. The overall theme was ‘Europe & Diversity’.

For the whole week the pupils (aged 10-14) and I danced to songs in the languages of Europe, in this school alone there are pupils from over 50 nationalities.

And then we painted the national flowers of European countries (like roses of England, irises of France, poppies of Poland and cornflowers of Germany) to put them together in a large colourful collage to be displayed at the end of the week on Open Day, and the pupils also choreographed their own dance performance. I am very proud of them 💃🏻🎨🌸🎉😊💪 And I feel I learned more from them then they from me.

Bye-bye, acrylics for the moment! We had such an impressive expressive time together. But I think tomorrow I will open a new chapter of art supplies for the last 15 cards of my project.

I still can’t really believe it’s summer now! I still can’t really believe it’s summer now! It’s like longing for it all year and now it came like a surprise, strange thing.

Still a month of work ahead for me, but then - let’s start dreaming, this photo by @malswim with my Aloha print puts me in the right tropical state of mind 🌴🌊👙
