CoLabs, Year Two

It’s been over a year since our first CoLab anniversary in March last year and as I was riding my back home from Doris Reske‘s and my 23rd Colab painting session this morning, I thought it was time for an update. So we have added another 11 painting sessions! We had such a lovely May… Read More

#the100dayproject, 27 Days later

Today I am 40 days into #the100dayproject so I thought it is time for a little recap. The iPad Pro has now become one of my daily working tools and it feels totally normal to use it every day. For Patternmash’s weekend project Terrazzo I decided to do it entirely on the iPad Pro with… Read More

#the100dayproject 2017

This year I decided to take part in global #the100dayproject again. After last year’s hand-painted watercolour Daily Moods I am going all digital this time. I got myself an iPad Pro and pencil a couple of weeks ago and have already done my first baby steps on it and have even already sold a pattern… Read More

Party Nights Collection

Unfortunately like a lot of designers I can’t show you the majority of design work I am doing at the moment as most of it is for my agency and clients’ work. So I am quite happy when there is something that I can actually show. Like for Patternmash’s latest project called Le Freak for… Read More

Mallorca Moods

My travel moods are back! Our family spent the last two weeks on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca and that was just the energy lift my body, mind and Daily Moods needed. As you might have read previously on my blog, my Daily Moods started as a 100-day-project in April and have since then evolved… Read More

The September Collection

This month I played with layers, blend modes and overlays. I combined recent floral photography with hand painted textures of mine, mainly from my Daily Moods for my collection ‘Flora Translucens’. These designs would look great on silk scarves, placement prints on T-Shirts or on iPhone cases, I think. I liked them so much on… Read More

Design Summer School 2016

It is this time of year again – the design summer school with Make it in Design. Shortly before this year’s briefs were sent out, they published their Surface Pattern Design Lookbook Volume 2 and I was delighted that two of my patterns from last summer’s school were published in it. You can find my… Read More

My Moods Movie

Last Sunday was the last day of my summer vacation and totally incidentally also the last day of my 100-day-project. Some say it takes 21 days to form a new habit, others say 28 or 66 days. So 100 days are plenty! I started on April 27 2016 and painted my 100 days all through… Read More

DELIGHTS

Last night our biggest (up-to-now) art show opened in Delmenhorst, Germany. Doris Reske and me show 65 pieces of art on the tree floors of the Lichthof-Gallery which is part of the former Nordwolle fabric area. Large acrylic paintings (quite a few of them collaborations), mixed-media collages by me and iPhoneography prints by Doris show… Read More

The Summer Sports Collection

As my summer sabbatical is slowly but definitely coming to its end, it is time for me to catch up on some of my developments in pattern design on my blog. Before my vacation I took an excellent 4-week-online course Women’s Activewear with Pattern Observer. Being also a yoga teacher I have seen a lot… Read More

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‚Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Marianne Williamson

Would you have guessed that I painted these flowers digitally, solely on the iPad? While most digital artists prefer Procreate, I love Adobe Fresco for its unpredictable watercolour brushes which bring much of the beauty and magic of real watercolours 🎨💫

For those of you who are interested in trying digital watercolour painting on the iPad I have a whole beginner class on @skillshare on this topic where we will paint crocuses in the snow, a little harbinger of spring. You can find the link to the class in my bio linktree ⬆️ It also gives you a month on Skillshare for free, with access to all my classes and thousands more.
