3 new things I learned in 2019

At the beginning of 2020 I took some moments to look back at last year and realised what a year it has been in terms of learning. Besides my usual hustle-and-bustle of designing prints and patterns, I made sure to try new things. And it wasn’t really that I had to make sure – the… Read More

Albania Sketchbook

Hello from Tirana, the capital of the country the Albanians themselves call Shqipëria! We are starting our summer trip around the country in this laid-back and more-modern-than-one-would-think city and get a first taste of the feel, food, people – and scenery. This quick sketch is from our funicular ride up the Dajti Mountain with spectacular… Read More

#the100dayproject 2018 Days 51-100

I really had fun with this year’s project! And I really made a page every day. I loved seeing nature further unfold in May and June for the second part of the project and tried a couple of new techniques. Hand painted watercolour was my go-to-technique, but I also tried tighter illustration styles and some… Read More

#the100DayProject 2018 Days 1-50

It’s the third year in a row I am taking part in the worldwide #100dayproject. After last year’s digital explorations on the iPad I went back to paper and handmade. I chose a topic I wanted to further practice and that are an eternal classic – flowers. And I even though I love them and… Read More

Fashion Collaboration with Isy B. Design / Cayman Islands

As you might have guessed from my artwork, there is nothing I like designing more then tropical prints. Let me tell you a little story from my designer’s life. One day in mid-November 2016 (like Nothern Germany grey rainy cold November, actually we had had the first snow that week) I came across an e-mail… Read More

Print Collaboration with Happycloth

Happycloth is a recently launched Greek company producing top-quality handmade silk scarves. I coudn’t be more proud when I found out that they chose 12 designs out of 45,000 textile patterns, and two of them were mine, ‘Leopink’ and ‘Ditsy’. What makes them furthermore special is that the company decided to sell each scarf with… Read More

#the100dayproject 2017 100/100!!!

After taking a summer pause due to travelling and summer holidays I loved coming back to my #the100dayproject and creating the last patterns. You can still see the tropical influence from my trip to Cuba and then the change of seasons from summer to early autumn (falling colourful leaves, spider webs, grey rainy days). I… Read More

#the100dayproject, days 37-81

That’s another 45 new patterns. all created on the iPad Pro: The muse does show up, every single day! That’s what one the things I have learned during this time. I have to be dedicated also and make the time and effort to sit down and start creating. And usually one idea (sometimes just a… Read More

#the100dayproject, 27 Days later

Today I am 40 days into #the100dayproject so I thought it is time for a little recap. The iPad Pro has now become one of my daily working tools and it feels totally normal to use it every day. For Patternmash’s weekend project Terrazzo I decided to do it entirely on the iPad Pro with… Read More

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‚Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Would you have guessed that I painted these flowers digitally, solely on the iPad? While most digital artists prefer Procreate, I love Adobe Fresco for its unpredictable watercolour brushes which bring much of the beauty and magic of real watercolours 🎨💫

For those of you who are interested in trying digital watercolour painting on the iPad I have a whole beginner class on @skillshare on this topic where we will paint crocuses in the snow, a little harbinger of spring. You can find the link to the class in my bio linktree ⬆️ It also gives you a month on Skillshare for free, with access to all my classes and thousands more.
